Does your product meet the standards of the… WBA Bakers Best Seal Excellence?
The Wisconsin Bakers Association is hosting a brand new program to define the bakers best products in Wisconsin… the WBA Bakers Best Seal of Excellence!
Winners of the Bakers Best Seal of Excellence receive awards, medals, and marketing labels for their product all to help promote sales of their winning bakery item! Winners will be announced Tuesday, March 10, in the Bakery Pavilion of the Expo show floor and at the 4B’s Bash on Tuesday evening.
Entries in six baking categories will be judged to determine which creation deserves the Bakers Best Seal of Excellence. Awards of distinction are given in each of these categories of bakery items:
Seasonal Breads
Yeast, Artisan, Batters or Sours! Any combination or flavors, handled with the proper care from start to finish. No frozen dough entries will be accepted.
2-D or 3-D Shaped Cakes
Two-dimensional or three-dimensional shaped cakes will be judged on creativity, originality and attention to detail as set by the American Standards of Decorating. Flavor, taste and texture will also be reviewed during judging. Entries must be smaller than 18” x 26”, height proportionate and able to be transported by a customer without special assistance.
Unique Cupcake Creations
Make cupcakes the craze of the decade! Cupcake judging will be based on development of flavor profiles that combine with the proper structure, quality, ingredients and proper baking. Create the bakers best cupcake with divine flavor and distinctive design!
Gourmet Pies & Tarts
Masterpieces of delectability will be judged on content and freshness of fruit and ingredients, slicing and structure of the finished product, as well as taste, texture, flakiness or bite of the crust and overall appeal and appearance of presentation.
Cookies of Distinction
Cookies with a distinct flavor or uniqueness all their own! Filled, frosted, topped or other cookie creations are accepted for judging against AIB standards for cookies. Set your cookie apart from the rest with unique flavor, texture and eye appeal!
Bountiful Bars
A competition for every kind of bar, baked or chilled, brownies to fruit bars, granola to princess, and more! There are no shortages in this category! Taste, texture, slicing ability, ease of handling, along with uniqueness of appearance and presentation creates judging criteria that combines to create the best bar in the state!
Competitors should provide samples and displays for judging. Judging decisions are based on criteria set for each product category and product entries will not be judged against another entry for this event. Entry is only $75 for WBA members, $175 for non-members (includes 1st year of membership in WBA). Sign up by Thursday, February 26, 2009 for your opportunity to be the Bakers Best!
