Food Safety Video
New video available from NRA to help educate employees on food safety basics

The National Restaurant Association has created a new video highlighting basic food safety best practices, demonstrated by chef educators. This video is a great resource for explaining basic food safety principles, especially as an introduction to food safety for new employees.


Resources Available from National Food Safety Month
The 2012 NFSM theme was “Be Safe, Don’t Cross-Contaminate”

This year’s National Food Safety Month (NFSM) theme was "Be Safe, Don’t Cross-Contaminate," focusing on best practices for avoiding the spread of pathogens from one food or surface to another. All the materials are based on the NRA's ServSafe Food Safety program.

Here are some activities that you may want to consider to increase food safety awareness with both employees AND customers:

  • Conduct a food safety training class for all employees.
  • Ask each head cook/manager to review the weekly activities with staff through contests or games and offer prizes to encourage participation.
  • Promote NFSM in your operation’s employee newsletter or magazine.
  • Place NFSM logo on all memos to employees, tabletops, check out stations, etc., to emphasize to your customers you are committed to food safety.
  • Promote National Food Safety Month, and your involvement in this national campaign, on your website, blog, social media channels.
