Bruce Wolf Honored with Salute to Excellence Award

Bruce Wolf, FMP, CMA, owner of Comfort Suites Hotel / Rock Garden Hotel and Conference Center in Green Bay, is honored as the restaurateur recipient for the 2012 Salute to Excellence Awards, presented by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association Education Foundation. The Foundation presents Wolf with this award for his commitment to education, the community and the industry.

“Bruce Wolf has shown amazing dedication to the Foundation and the foodservice industry,” says Bryan Mowry, Managing Director of the WRA Education Foundation. “His leadership and support has been incredible.”

Wolf has proven his enthusiasm for Wisconsin’s foodservice industry and foodservice education through long-time support of the WRA and the WRA Education Foundation and programs within his community. Locally, Wolf has worked to ensure a portion of funds raised at “Feast with the Beasts,” an annual event organized by the WRA Green Bay Chapter, is donated to the Education Foundation. When Green Bay High School’s ProStart® program was in its infancy, he led the Green Bay Chapter in helping Preble High get the equipment it needed to become a successful student program.

At the chapter level, Wolf has dedicated his time as a chapter officer and has been instrumental in helping to establish the Dick Kroening and the Green Bay Chapter scholarships. On a state level, Wolf has served as Chairman of the WRA Board of Directors, where he currently holds a seat as an Honorary Director, and has been honored as a past winner of the WRA Restaurateur of the Year award. Nationally, Wolf was named a National Restaurant Association Grassroots Champion in 2008.

In addition, Wolf has taken a leadership role in promotion of industry education and lobbying on behalf of small restaurants at the state and national level.

Wolf has extensive experience in hospitality, having been a part of it for many years. His establishment is a remarkable example of a well-run business built on long work-weeks, savvy marketing and a solid reputation in the community. His dedication to the industry and foodservice education makes Bruce Wolf a well-deserving recipient of the 2012 Salute to Excellence Restaurateur Award.

Each year, the WRA EF recognizes five individuals and one company for dedication and commitment to education in the restaurant industry as Salute to Excellence honorees. Other 2012 Salute to Excellence honorees include: Chef John Balistrieri (Fox Valley Technical College, Appleton), Chef John Johnson (Madison College, Madison), Ed Klinger (Moose Inn Supper Club & Catering, Wautoma), Glenda McCracken (Orfordville Parkview High School, Orfordville) and Heartland Payment Systems, Inc. Each honoree creates opportunities for people interested in foodservice industry careers. They have worked in a variety of roles, in different parts of the state, but they share an enthusiasm and optimism for the future of the restaurant industry.

The Salute to Excellence awards are presented at the 2012 Celebration of Excellence on Sunday, October 14 at The Crystal Room at Buffalo Phil’s Grille in the Wisconsin Dells. More information on the event is available at www.wirestaurant.org.
