Potawatomi Chef Honored with Salute to Excellence Award

Chef Peter Gebauer, GMC, of Potawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee, is honored as the chef recipient for the 2013 Salute to Excellence Awards, presented by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association Education Foundation. The Foundation presents Chef Peter Gebauer with the Chef Award for his dedication to excellence in foodservice.

Chef Gebauer is a leading Wisconsin chef, strong foodservice leader and industry mentor who is passionate about hospitality. Prior to working at Potawatomi, Gebauer was an accomplished Executive Chef for high profile entities like Disney, Gaylord Opryland and multiple international resorts and cruises. Today, he remains committed to teaching and training his staff to have similar opportunities to which he was given during his inspiring career.

“Chef Gebauer is a dedicated leader,” said Michael Tsuchishashi of MMM Concepts in Milwaukee. “He is impressive in his ability to be an Executive Chef in such large facilities, but never lose his identity as a working chef.”

Chef Gebauer is passionate about the development of the culinary arts and education within the foodservice industry. He designed and implemented industry-leading standards and progressive training to ensure foodservice safety for chefs and for local and state health inspectors. Since 2007, Gebauer has been a judge for the ProStart® Invitational culinary competition for high school students held at the Midwest Foodservice Expo. He has been a member of the WCTC Culinary Program Advisory Board in Waukesha since 2008. In 2012, he became a WRA Education Foundation Board of Director. And, for the last several years he has been a co-chair for fundraisers, food shows and other important industry programs.

“Chef Gebauer is passionate about the restaurant industry and education,” says Bryan Mowry, Managing Director of the WRA Education Foundation. “Throughout his career, he has been an amazing foodservice leader and industry mentor.”

The WRA Education Foundation proudly presents Chef Peter Gebauer with the 2013 Salute to Excellence Chef Award.

Each year, the WRA EF recognizes five individuals and one company for dedication and commitment to education in the restaurant industry as Salute to Excellence honorees. Other 2013 Salute to Excellence honorees include: Richard Busalacchi (Milwaukee Area Technical College, Milwaukee); Marie Collins (Badger High School, Lake Geneva); Mark and Jean Landreman (Landreman’s Family Restaurant, Kaukauna); Liz Moehr (Pulaski High School, Pulaski); and New Era Marketing. Each honoree creates opportunities for people interested in foodservice industry careers. They have worked in a variety of roles, in different parts of the state, but they share an enthusiasm and optimism for the future of the restaurant industry.

The Salute to Excellence awards are presented at the 2013 Celebration of Excellence on Sunday, October 13 at Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau. More information on the event is available at www.wirestaurant.org.
