Restaurateurs Honored with Salute to Excellence Award

Mark and Jean Landreman, owners of Landreman’s Family Restaurant in Kaukauna, are honored as the restaurateur recipients for the 2013 Salute to Excellence Awards, presented by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association Education Foundation. The Foundation presents the Landremans with this award for their commitment to education, the community and the industry.

“Mark and Jean Landreman have shown amazing dedication to the Foundation and the foodservice industry,” says Bryan Mowry, Managing Director of the WRA Education Foundation. “Their leadership and support has been incredible.”

Mark and Jean have proven their enthusiasm for Wisconsin’s foodservice industry and foodservice education through long-time support of the WRA, the WRA Education Foundation and programs within their community. Both are very active in their local chapter and work tirelessly to ensure the success of events that raise funds for foodservice education. On a state level, Jean currently holds a seat on the WRA Board of Directors while Mark is a PAC Trustee for the association. In addition, both Landremans have taken a leadership role in promotion of industry education and lobbying on behalf of small restaurants at the state and national level.

“This is an appropriate award recognizing the Landremans’ achievements,” said Chef Jeff Igel of Fox Valley Technical College. “They are great ambassadors to the industry that work very hard for the future of foodservice.”

The Landremans have extensive experience in hospitality, having been a part of the industry for many years. Their establishment is a remarkable example of a well-run business built on long work-weeks, savvy marketing and a solid reputation in the community. Their dedication to the industry and foodservice education makes Mark and Jean Landreman well-deserving recipients of the 2013 Salute to Excellence Restaurateur Award.

Each year, the WRA EF recognizes five individuals and one company for dedication and commitment to education in the restaurant industry as Salute to Excellence honorees. Other 2013 Salute to Excellence honorees include: Richard Busalacchi (Milwaukee Area Technical College, Milwaukee); Marie Collins (Badger High School, Lake Geneva); Peter Gebauer, GMC (Potawatomi Bingo Casino, Milwaukee); Liz Moehr (Pulaski High School, Pulaski) and New Era Marketing. Each honoree creates opportunities for people interested in foodservice industry careers. They have worked in a variety of roles, in different parts of the state, but they share an enthusiasm and optimism for the future of the restaurant industry.

The Salute to Excellence awards are presented at the 2013 Celebration of Excellence on Sunday, October 13 at Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau. More information on the event is available at www.wirestaurant.org.
