Local Restaurant Owners Honored As Outstanding Restaurateurs of the Year

Mark and Jean Landreman, owners of Landreman’s Family Restaurant located in Kaukauna, are being honored as Outstanding Restaurateurs of the Year (OROY) by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association (WRA) Big Four Chapter, made up of Waupaca, Outagamie, Winnebago and Green Lake counties. The OROY award is given by fellow members of the Big Four Chapter based on success in business, community service and dedication to the restaurant industry.

The OROY award will be presented to the Landremans on January 13th at a WRA chapter meeting held at Fox Banquets in Appleton. Sen. Robert Cowles and Rep. Jim Steineke have been invited to the chapter meeting to present a Legislative Citation to the couple.

On Tuesday, March 11th, the Landremans will also be honored with a commendation medal at the 2014 WRA Awards Dinner gala, taking place at Potawatomi Bingo Casino near downtown Milwaukee.

The Landremans have extensive experience in hospitality, having been a part of the industry for many years. Mark started out as a busboy in 1974 and worked his way through every position in a restaurant. In 1995, Mark and Jean purchased Landreman’s Family Restaurant. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant’s most popular dishes served are hamburger and fries, pie and all-you-can-eat spaghetti.

The Landremans are very active in the community. Mark is involved with the Kaukauna Lions Club, helping build wheelchair ramps, assisting with the Lions Eye Bank and serving as Tail Twister, the ‘pep master’ of the local club. He is also part of a mentoring program with Kaukauna and Kimberly high schools. Jean is involved with youth vision screenings, organizes 1000 Islands Food Fest, hosts blood drives and is part of the Waupaca Eating Smart initiative, to name a few.

Mark and Jean have proven their enthusiasm for Wisconsin’s foodservice industry through long-time support of WRA and its Education Foundation. Both are very active in the local chapter, having held all chapter officer positions and worked tirelessly toward the success of fundraising events. On a state level, Jean currently holds a seat on the WRA Board of Directors while Mark is a PAC Trustee for the association. In addition, both Landremans have taken a leadership role in lobbying on behalf of small restaurants at the state and national level.

The Landremans have two daughters, three grandsons and one granddog.

WRA represents a broad range of foodservice operations and is dedicated to promoting and improving the restaurant industry. For more information, visit www.wirestaurant.org.
