Local Restaurant Owner Honored As Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year

Julie Gosser, of Caliente La Fiesta Mexicana located in De Pere, was honored as the Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year (OROY) by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association (WRA) Green Bay Chapter, made up of Shawano, Brown and Outagamie counties. The OROY award is given by fellow members of the Green Bay Chapter based on success in business, community service and dedication to the restaurant industry.

The OROY award was presented as a surprise to Gosser on January 27th, at the WRA state board meeting held at Comfort Suites / Rock Garden in Green Bay. Senator Dave Hansen presented a Legislative Citation to Gosser.

On Tuesday, March 11, Gosser will also be honored with a commendation medal at the 2014 WRA Awards Dinner gala, taking place at Potawatomi Bingo Casino near downtown Milwaukee.

Gosser has worked in the foodservice industry for her entire adult life, starting out as a waitress. In 2001, she transformed a former bistro into Caliente La Fiesta Mexicana, a now well-known full-service Mexican restaurant. Gosser’s vision to develop the concept into a successful restaurant has been the highlight of her career.

Gosser is active in her community, being involved in the Green Bay Boys Choir and the Pink Flamingo Fundraising Club. She has been very supportive of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association and the restaurant industry, and has taken a leadership role in lobbying on behalf of small restaurants at the state and national level.

Gosser and her husband Jay reside in De Pere. They have two children: Maddie and Mitchell.

WRA represents a broad range of foodservice operations and is dedicated to promoting and improving the restaurant industry. For more information, visit www.wirestaurant.org.
