Local Restaurant Manager Honored As Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year

Lisa Metz, General Manager of Culver’s located on Bridge Street in Wausau, was honored as the Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year (OROY) by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association (WRA) Wisconsin River Valley Chapter, made up Marathon, Wood, Portage, Adams, Waushara and Juneau counties. The OROY award is given by fellow members of the Wisconsin River Valley Chapter based on success in business, community service and dedication to the restaurant industry.

The OROY award was presented as a surprise to Metz on January 13th, at a WRA chapter meeting held at the Sky Club in Plover. Sen. Jerry Petrowski, Rep. John Spiros and Rep. Mandy Wright were invited to attend to present Metz with a special Legislative Citation.

On Tuesday, March 11, Metz will also be honored with a commendation medal at the 2014 WRA Awards Dinner gala, taking place at Potawatomi Bingo Casino near downtown Milwaukee.

Metz has worked in the restaurant industry for the past 13 years. She has enjoyed forming special relationships with many of her regular customers, getting to know them and their families and helping them look upon Culver’s as their home away from home. For her service, she was named Culver’s system-wide Top Manager of the Year, received a Top Operator Award in 2002 and 2003 and has been awarded six Commitment to Excellence Awards by the franchise.

Metz is active in the community, being involved in the Children’s Miracle Network, the American Cancer Society and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, to name a few. She has also been very supportive of the local Wisconsin River Valley Chapter of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association, serving as Secretary for the past three years, holding a seat on the chapter board and working tirelessly toward the success of fundraising events.

Metz resides in Mosinee with her husband Rodney. They have two children: David and Garrett.

WRA represents a broad range of foodservice operations and is dedicated to promoting and improving the restaurant industry. For more information, visit www.wirestaurant.org.
