Local Restaurant Owner Honored As Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year

Dennis Heyde, owner of Fanny Hill located in Eau Claire, was honored as the Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year (OROY) by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association (WRA) West Wisconsin Chapter, consisting of Buffalo, Chippewa, Clark, Eau Claire and Jackson counties. The OROY award is given by fellow members of the chapter based on success in business, community service and dedication to the restaurant industry.

The OROY award will be presented to Heyde on January 20th, at a WRA chapter meeting held at his own establishment, Fanny Hill. Sen. Terry Moulton and Rep. Kathleen Bernier have been invited to present a Legislative Citation to Heyde.

On Tuesday, March 11, Heyde will also be honored with a commendation medal at the 2014 WRA Awards Dinner gala, taking place at Potawatomi Bingo Casino near downtown Milwaukee.

Heyde has extensive experience in hospitality, having been a part of the industry for over 30 years and at Fanny Hill for 25 years. Fanny Hill initially began as a beer bar, but through the years it grew to become a full-service restaurant, Victorian inn and live dinner theatre. As owner, Heyde supervises and oversees all activities of the daily business.

Heyde is very active in the community, being involved in the Chippewa Falls Rotary Club, Chippewa Falls Elks Club, Knights of Columbus Council #974, serving as Vice President for the Chippewa Area Community Foundation, on the Board for the Chippewa Valley Brigade Drum and Bugle Corps and on the Advisory Board for the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire School of Business, to name a few.

Heyde has proven his enthusiasm for Wisconsin’s foodservice industry through long-time support of WRA. He is active in the local West Wisconsin Chapter, having served on the chapter board in multiple roles. On the state level, Dennis serves on the WRA Board of Directors and has participated in many association events. Heyde has also taken a leadership role in lobbying on behalf of the hospitality and tourism industries at the state and national level.

Heyde and his wife Linda reside in Eau Claire. He has three children, two step children and six grandchildren.
