David RossLake Lawn Resort Chef Honored with Salute to Excellence Award

Chef David Ross of Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan is honored as the chef recipient for the 2015 Salute to Excellence Awards, presented by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association Education Foundation (WRA Education Foundation). The WRA Education Foundation presents David Ross with the Chef Award for his dedication to excellence in foodservice.

Chef Ross shares his 30 years of industry experience, knowledge and talent as a mentor to Badger High School students active in the ProStart® culinary program. His commitment to teaching real life skills and solid technique to future foodservice leaders is vital to the industry’s continued growth and success. Chef Ross serves on the Education Foundation Board of Directors, the ProStart® Advisory Sub-Committee and helped facilitate the first ProStart® Sizzling Chili Bowl Throwdown competition. He also led efforts to restructure the College Culinary Competition at the Midwest Foodservice Expo, making the event a huge success.

Chef Ross is a distinguished leader in the foodservice industry, having been named WRA Education Foundation ProStart® Mentor of the Year, 2008; Geneva Lakes Chapter ACF Chef of the Year, 2008; and Hostmark Hospitality Group Chef of the Year, 1999. Ross is an active member of his community, participating in the Chef Lake Geneva Kitchen Walk, Chef March of Dimes Taste of Geneva, as well as supporting many other activities and organizations.

The WRA Education Foundation proudly presents Chef David Ross with the 2015 Salute to Excellence Chef Award.

Each year, the WRA Education Foundation recognizes individuals in five categories and one company for dedication and commitment to education in the restaurant industry as Salute to Excellence honorees. With an overwhelming response to the program, the WRA Education Foundation has decided to choose seven honorees for this year’s Salute. Other 2015 Salute to Excellence honorees include: Vicki Mendham (Nicolet College, Rhinelander); Michael Tsuchihashi (Atlas BBQ, Grafton); Laura Cronan (Nekoosa High School, Nekoosa); Sally Heuer (West Bend High School, West Bend); Don Thompson (Red Mill Supper Club, Stevens Point); and Woolsey and Associates (Waukesha). Each honoree creates opportunities for people interested in foodservice industry careers. They have worked in a variety of roles and in different parts of the state, but they share an enthusiasm and optimism for the future of the restaurant industry.

The Salute to Excellence awards are presented at the 2015 Celebration of Excellence on Sunday, October 25 at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center in Downtown Milwaukee. More information on the event is available at www.wirestaurant.org.
