Laura CronanNekoosa High School Teacher Honored with Salute to Excellence Award

Nekoosa High School teacher Laura Cronan is honored as a High School Educator recipient for the 2015 Salute to Excellence Awards, presented by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association Education Foundation (WRA Education Foundation). The 2015 High School Educator Award is given to Cronan for her passion for teaching, strong commitment to ProStart® and dedication to the foodservice industry.

After winning the ProStart® Teacher of the Year award in 2012, Cronan has continued to demonstrate exceptional talent and skills providing students with valuable experiences and the keys to success. She has been a ProStart® instructor for the past seven years, first at Wautoma High School and most recently at Nekoosa High School. Cronan credits the ProStart® program for providing the tools necessary to teach 21st century employability skills to her students, ensuring they are ready to enter the workforce.

“Laura has consistently shown her dedication to foodservice education,” says Connie Fedor, Executive Director of the WRA Education Foundation. “The enthusiasm she brings to her class keeps her students interested and learning every day.”

In addition to her commitment to education, Cronan is also a strong supporter of the foodservice industry and her community as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and a member of the Lady Elks.

The WRA Education Foundation proudly presents Laura Cronan with the 2015 Salute to Excellence High School Educator Award.

Each year, the WRA Education Foundation recognizes individuals in five categories and one company for dedication and commitment to education in the restaurant industry as Salute to Excellence honorees. With an overwhelming response to the program, the WRA Education Foundation has decided to choose seven honorees for this year’s Salute. Other 2015 Salute to Excellence honorees include: Vicki Mendham (Nicolet College, Rhinelander); Michael Tsuchihashi (Atlas BBQ, Grafton); David Ross (Lake Lawn Resort, Delavan); Sally Heuer (West Bend High School, West Bend); Don Thompson (Red Mill Supper Club, Stevens Point); and Woolsey and Associates (Waukesha). Each honoree creates opportunities for people interested in foodservice industry careers. They have worked in a variety of roles and in different parts of the state, but they share an enthusiasm and optimism for the future of the restaurant industry.

The Salute to Excellence awards are presented at the 2015 Celebration of Excellence on Sunday, October 25 at the Hilton Milwaukee City Center in Downtown Milwaukee. More information on the event is available at www.wirestaurant.org.
