Glenda Woosley Woosley Honored with Salute to Excellence Award

Glenda Woosley, owner of Culver’s in Darboy and co-owner of Culver’s in Little Chute, will receive the Wisconsin Restaurant Association (WRA) Education Foundation’s Salute to Excellence Restaurateur Award at the industry’s Celebration of Excellence dinner taking place on October 23 at the Heidel House in Green Lake. She is honored for her commitment to education, the community and the industry.

“Glenda believes that education serves as the foundation of personal and professional success,” said Connie Fedor, Executive Director of the WRA Education Foundation. “She’s passionate about learning something new every day because the industry is constantly changing.”

Woosley has been a long-time leader of the WRA and currently serves on the state WRA Board of Directors and is President of the Big Four Chapter. She’s won numerous awards, including State Finalist for National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation Restaurant Neighbor Award, 2016; Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year—WRA Big Four Chapter, 2014; Chamber Small Business of the Year Award, 2006; George Marvin Culver Award for highest level of performance, 2003; 14-time winner of Culver’s Commitment to Excellence Award, 4-time winner of Ruth Culver Award for superior hospitality; Coalition for Children, Youth and Families Friend of Children Award, 2014; and many others.

Woosley sponsors and volunteers for many community events and organizations, including the Make a Wish Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network, the American Red Cross, Old Glory Honor Flight, Fox Valley College Culinary Theatre, among others.

Each year, the WRA Education Foundation recognizes five individuals and one company for dedication and commitment to education in the restaurant industry as Salute to Excellence honorees. Other 2016 Salute to Excellence honorees include: Michael Buckarma (Becket’s, Oshkosh); Katie Koel (Blackhawk Technical College, Janesville); Kayla Correll (Greendale High School, Greendale); Michael Althen (Elite Catering, Baraboo); and Jones Dairy Farm (Fort Atkinson). Each honoree creates opportunities for people interested in foodservice industry careers. They have worked in a variety of roles and in different parts of the state, but they share enthusiasm and optimism for the future of the restaurant industry.

The Salute to Excellence awards will be presented at the 2016 Celebration of Excellence on Sunday, October 23 at the Heidel House in Green Lake. More information on the event is available at www.wirestaurant.org.
