RC Schroeder, Jr.RC Schroeder, Jr. Honored with Salute to Excellence Award

RC Schroeder, Jr., instructor at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, will receive the Wisconsin Restaurant Association Education Foundation’s (WRA EF) Salute to Excellence College Educator Award at the industry’s Celebration of Excellence dinner taking place on October 22nd at the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake. He is honored for his dedication to excellence in foodservice and his passion for educating and training the future leaders of the industry.

Schroeder has worked in the foodservice industry for over 30 years and has become an integral part of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program at Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC).

“RC is a passionate advocate and supporter of education and the restaurant industry,” said Connie Fedor, Executive Director of the WRA EF. “Not only is he committed to teaching his students at Fox Valley Technical College, he mentors high school students and volunteers at student competitions and foundation events.”

Schroeder has been an active and engaged partner for the WRA EF for many years and serves as a judge for the Wisconsin ProStart Invitational each year. He is a current member of the WRA EF board and is a past chairman.

He has also been involved with the American Culinary Foundation (ACF) Milwaukee and Fox Valley chapters as a member and in leadership roles. Schroeder also helps coach FVTC students each year for the WRA EF College Competitions.

He has received many awards including:

  • American Academy of Chefs Induction, 2012
  • WRA Big Four Chapter Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year award, 2010
  • American Culinary Federation Fox Valley Chapter Chef of the Year award, 2006
  • WRA EF Salute to Excellence Chef award, 2005
  • Over 25 American Culinary Federation competition gold, silver and bronze medals
  • Wisconsin Association for Career and Technical Education Outstanding New Instructor award, 2013

A strong supporter of his community, Schoeder also volunteers his time to help local charitable organizations such as the March of Dimes, Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.

The WRA EF recognizes six individuals and one company for dedication and commitment to education in the restaurant industry as Salute to Excellence honorees. Other 2017 Salute to Excellence honorees include: Glee Brechler (James Madison Memorial High School), Trey Hester (Rocky Rococo Restaurants), Chris Roderique (Piggy’s Restaurant), Brian Frakes (Pfister Hotel-Marcus Hotels and Resorts), Tom Surwillo (Milwaukee Area Technical College) and Gordon Food Service.

Each honoree creates opportunities for people interested in foodservice industry careers. While they have worked in a variety of roles and in different parts of the state, they all share enthusiasm and optimism for the future of the restaurant industry.

The Salute to Excellence awards will be presented at the 2017 Celebration of Excellence on Sunday, October 22 at the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake. More information on the event is available at www.wirestaurant.org.
