Thomas and Lynn Saxe have been named Restaurateurs of the Year by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association.  The industry’s top honor was announced at the association’s Annual Awards Dinner, held at the Milwaukee Art Museum in Milwaukee in conjunction with the Wisconsin Restaurant Expo.

Thomas and Lynn Saxe are the owners and operators of Saxe’s Dining & Banquets in Delafield.  The Saxes have owned the casual fine dining restaurant and banquet facility for 20 years.  The operation has restaurant seating for 200, a banquet facility for up to 250 guests and three outdoor volleyball courts.

The Restaurateur of the Year award is given to operators who demonstrate participation and service to the restaurant association, success within their own restaurant, and participation in community activities. The winner is quietly selected at a private meeting of past Restaurateur of the Year recipients and kept a secret until the official announcement at the Awards Dinner.

The Saxes have been active WRA members for over 20 years.  They are both extremely dedicated to their Milwaukee Chapter of WRA and have both served as Chapter President.  The Milwaukee Chapter has also honored both Thomas and Lynn individually as the Chapter Outstanding Restaurateur of the Year.  The Saxes are known for their dedication to every facet of Chapter activities and never decline a request to help the Chapter.

Thomas is currently an active member of the WRA Board of Directors, currently serving on the Executive Committee.  He has served on various board committees, as Chair of the Expo and as a Political Action Committee (PAC) trustee and Team Captain.  Lynn has also served as a PAC trustee and also was one of the first WRA Education Foundation college scholarship mentors.

Serving the community and church are also very important activities to the Saxes.  They are currently active members at Alliance Bible Church in Oconomowoc.  Thomas has been a leader in the Top Gun Men’s Ministries discipleship program through Elmbrook Church.  Lynn is a discussion leader for the weekly women’s meeting of Bible Study Fellowship International.  They have both been involved with the faith-based community outreach center Heartlove Place, located in Milwaukee.  In addition, for the past sixteen years the Saxes have hosted a free traditional Thanksgiving dinner at their restaurant for the elderly and those less fortunate in the community.
