Wisconsin Restaurateur (WR) is a high-quality,
bi-monthly business magazine serving foodservice professionals throughout
Wisconsin. The format is upbeat and progressive. With an exclusive focus
on the foodservice industry, WR offers an excellent mix of industry news
and foodservice features. WR points out trends headed our way and gets
the word out on those that start here. We watch the problems restaurateurs
are having in other parts of the country and make our readers aware of
potential challenges.
Published by the Best
Wisconsin Restaurateur is published by the
Wisconsin Restaurant Association, one of the largest state restaurant
associations in the U.S., representing over 6,000 facilities.
Longevity
Wisconsin Restaurateur has been published
as long as the Association has been around -- since 1933!
Circulation
An audience of approximately 3,000 professionals receives our magazine
for the news and views on Wisconsin's foodservice industry. An ad in our
annual January/February "Expo Issue" will put you in front of
every licensed foodservice professional in Wisconsin. This special issue
has a circulation of 16,000!
A targeted audience
Wisconsin Restaurateur is the only publication
in Wisconsin with an exclusive focus on the foodservice industry... and
it reaches an estimated 80% of Wisconsin's buying power in that market.
With 10,000 readers, placing an ad in WR really does give you a direct
link to prospective buyers and increased business.
Wisconsin Restaurateur is not just an opportunity
to advertise in a publication directed to your buyers. We offer you a
partnership that helps your company reach its objectives and grow business
in Wisconsin.
WRBN (Wisconsin Restaurant Business News)
WRBN is a series of news briefs that highlight the people and companies
in Wisconsin's foodservice industry. WRBN provides the latest information
on appointments, honors, promotions and retirements. This section is free
to you as an advertiser.
Special Features

your ideas and success stories. You can be a valuable contributor to these
editorial features.

- All premium space rates are priced "per issue."
- All premium space positions are non-cancellable
Insert Rates
Insert spaces are available in each issue. Due to the variety of insert
options available, advertisers should contact the WRA to confirm specific
rates.
Special Placement
Requests can be made for special placement within the magazine. Add 15% to space rate for this service.
Design Service
WRA staff is available to help advertisers design ads. The advertiser
must provide a thorough mock layout and any logos, images, etc. There
is a $50.00 minimum charge for any ad design work. Major changes to existing
ads may also be subject to additional charges.
Billing Policy
Agency commission of 15% of gross billing is allowed only to recognized
advertising agencies provided the account is paid net 30 days.
The publisher reserves the right to hold the advertiser and/or its advertising
agency jointly and severally liable for such monies as are payable to
the publisher.
Non-Payment Penalty
Advertiser and/or advertising agency assumes liability for 100% of contract
price. Liability continues to accrue for any ads pulled under contract.
If payment on a specific issue is not made within 60 days of the invoice
date, the remaining ads under contract will be pulled until full payment
is received for ads run and ads pulled. Once full payment is received,
ads will be reinstated in the next issue under contract. At no time may
contract terms be extended.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation of advertising space reservations will not be accepted after
the advertising space closing date for a given issue. Premium space reservations
are non-cancelable.
One-time advertisers must advertise in the issue indicated on their contract.
Three-time advertisers are allowed to change the schedule of their ads,
provided they indicate their intentions to the WRA before upcoming advertising
space closing dates and all three ads must be placed within a one year
period (from the time the initial ad is placed). Six-time advertisers
must place their ads in six consecutive issues.
When copy or ad changes are not received at the WRA by the date all ads
are due and reasonable attempts have been made by WRA staff to contact
the advertiser, the last ad that was placed will be repeated (provided
it is not dated in any way).
Contract/Insertion Order Policy
The publisher (WRA) will allow no ads to be placed for print without
a signed Wisconsin Restaurateur advertising contract and/or an advertising
agency insertion order.
All advertisers (including any advertising agency or a client thereof)
are required to complete and submit to the WRA a signed Wisconsin Restaurateur advertising contract in order to receive multi-issue discounted rates. There are no exceptions. Agency insertion orders do not qualify the advertiser
for multi-issue discounted rates unless they are accompanied by a signed
Wisconsin Restaurateur advertising contract. All printed rates are subject to change before a signed contract and/or
insertion order is received by publisher.

Printing & Binding
WR is printed on a web offset press and saddle stitched.
Print Specifications
WR is printed using CTP (Computer To Plate) technology. Because we utilize
this technology, new advertising materials must be received in digital
form in order to comply with our workflow.
Submission
All digital media must be compressed
into either a Mac-compatible self-extracting archive file (such as a ".sea,"
".sit," or ".hqx") or within a ".zip" file
(PC). Submission via e-mail should not exceed 5MB per transmission. Files
exceeding 5MB should be saved to a disc or burned onto a CD-R and sent
via ground-transport or converted into a PDF file and sent via e-mail.
Larger files may also be sent to our web server via a FTP (File Transfer
Protocol) program.
Ads submitted via CD should be accompanied by a color laser
proof. WRA cannot be held responsible for any design discrepancies when
no printed proof is provided (including any files submitted via e-mail
or FTP).

Wisconsin Restaurateur Master InDesign File
To make the printing and design process easier, we now
use InDesign CS3. The new Master File can be used to ensure that full
or half page ads with or without bleeds conform to proper dimensions.
To use it, you need the InDesign CS version 3.0.1 April 2005 Update Patch
installed or InDesign CS3. When the ad is complete, you can package the
ad, collecting all images and fonts used, then stuff or zip it and upload
it here. Or, you can export a
PDF using the PDF Optimization Instructions below and upload.
PDF Optimization
Instructions
This PDF contains instructions for generating PDFs
in InDesign for use in Wisconsin Restaurateur.
Using this process, designers can produce press-ready full page ads. NOTE:
The Wisconsin Restaurateur Master file above
already has the correct print settings as specified in this PDF.
PDF Guidelines
This PDF
contains the correct optimization settings and page size for a full page
ad with bleeds for any program you may use.
You may still download the Quark
4 Master file if you don't have InDesign. Quark files must be
submitted as PDFs only. We don't recommend this option due to incompatibilities
between the two programs, but realize that Quark is still being used by
various design houses.
FTP Upload Information
Rather than emailing files to WRA, you may wish instead to upload your
finished ads to our FTP server by using your web browser.
Please send an email to rpettersen@wirestaurant.org after uploading to let us know files are there.
