ServSafe® Programs

Bartender Pouring Cocktail

ServSafe Alcohol

Fulfill the state requirement to be a certified bartender in Wisconsin. ServSafe Alcohol® outlines effective responsible alcohol service practices for front-of-house staff and covers alcohol laws, intoxication evaluation, ID checks and more.

Wisconsin Requirements

The Wisconsin version satisfies the Wisconsin state bartender training requirements. It is a non-secured (easier and non-proctored) exam that tests for basic responsible alcohol service. Upon passing the exam, you will receive your alcohol safety certification.

To ensure compliance, please follow these steps:
  • Take the Wisconsin Tobacco online course. For more information, click here.
  • Purchase the ServSafe Alcohol Online Course and Primary Exam (SSAOLP3), which also includes a Wisconsin state supplement and Wisconsin state quiz.
  • Take the ServSafe Alcohol Online Course, download and review the Wisconsin state supplement and then take both the Wisconsin state quiz and ServSafe Alcohol Primary Exam. You must take and pass both the state quiz and the primary exam in the SAME DAY in order for your certificate to include the required state statutes information.
  • Apply for an Operator’s (bartender’s) license with your local municipality within 2 years of your examination date.

ServSafe Food Handler

Learn how to properly handle food with courses developed by foodservice experts, specifically for our industry!

Choose from online or in person, in English or in Spanish. Learn the basics in safe food handling and preparation, as well as additional content depending on your job specific services.
  • Covers Basic Food Safety, Personal Hygiene, Cross-Contamination and Allergens, Time & Temperature and Cleaning & Sanitation
  • Complies with employer requirements for food handlers
  • Online training that’s thorough and convenient
  • Covers basic food safety practices for preparing and serving food
  • Intended for employee training; does not meet Wisconsin requirements to be a Certified Food Protection Manager
  • The online training is $15, but WRA members get a 10% discount

Peanut Allergy

ServSafe Allergens

The Allergen Online Training Course provides critical information for accommodating guests with food allergies.

Sign-up today and complete your training and assessment within 90 days to receive your certification.
  • Comprehensive training covers food allergens and special dietary requests
  • Helps managers and employees prevent cross-contact, handle emergencies and service guests
  • Provides your businesses with better protection; not yet a Wisconsin requirement
  • The online training is convenient and inexpensive

​This online course is perfect for everyone in your restaurant, from the front of house to the back. Overall assistance in identifying allergens and cross-contamination/contact, along with how to deal with emergencies and specials requests, to the importance of food labels and personal hygiene. While Wisconsin doesn't currently require the course, many states do, so get ahead of the game and register today. The online training is $22, but WRA members get a 10% discount.
